What to Do When Stranded on the Side of the Road

If your car suddenly stops, you may find yourself stranded on the side of the road. If you’re in the city, you may be able to get into a parking lot or other safe space before your car stops altogether. If you’re not, you may have to have someone help push your vehicle out of traffic. If your vehicle stops somewhere in a rural area, though, you may find yourself stuck in an area without much traffic. No matter where you are, there are some tips you need to make sure you follow to remain safe while waiting for roadside assistance.

Make Sure You’re Safe

Having your car stall out in the middle of traffic can be dangerous. Make sure that your car is out of the way of oncoming traffic as soon as you can. If you have enough momentum, try to at least manoeuvre your vehicle all the way to one side of the street or the other. Turn on your emergency lamps if they’re working to alert other drivers that your vehicle is having problems.

Call for Help

If you have your mobile phone, you can call for roadside assistance in Sydney from Roadside Response and get help within an hour. If you don’t have your phone, you will need to find someone who does. If there are other drivers around, you may be able to flag someone down. If there are homes or businesses nearby, you can always walk to one of them and ask to use the phone.

However, make certain that you feel safe getting out of your vehicle. Never go walking in any area that you feel unsafe in. This includes dark or poorly-lit parts of the city or any street with poor visibility on either side.

Stay Comfortable

Getting heatstroke or becoming too cold can be a concern during extreme temperatures. You may want to carry a blanket with you in case you get stuck somewhere when it’s really cold out. For the heat, you should have a few bottles of emergency water stored in your car. You may even want to include a handheld battery-powered fan to help you get through those really hot days.

Don’t Worry

It’s important to keep calm when your car breaks down. Remember, help is on the way. Roadside assistance teams carry everything needed to get your car back on the road. You can even buy car battery in Sydney from Roadside Response if that’s what it takes to get your car fixed. These trained experts will take care of everything. What’s more important is that you stay safe. Remember, as long as you have your phone and can call for help, you never have to get out of your vehicle while you wait.
